Houndoom Run Cycle by Sabtastic Houndoom Run Cycle by Sabtastic
Lookit him go! Run, Houndoom, run!
That mail man's sure gonna be sorry when he meets ol' Xerxes!

Just a little three-frame run cycle I threw together in the last 2 or 3 hours. I made my boyfriend Jordan choose a "cool" Pokemon to draw over the phone, so he's mostly to thank for this one! C:

Enjoy, guys!
More Pokemon stuff to come soon!

Yeah, and average run cycle usually has about six frames. If this is your first run cycle, then it's amazing and I'm very impressed.

I absolutely like the drawing and even the animation but it could really use some more frames plus idk if it is just me but the tail seems a bit so...static for me.
Nevertheless, great work.

Most def. I completely agree. :XD:

I guess the whole 'run cycle' thing was an afterthougt. I drew the first frame originally, and thought- - heck, let's add some movement! :XD:

Really good, it would look smoother if you used more frames, but at the same time it would be a bit slower depending on how you animate. Keep up the awesome work o:

This is a great animation but I feel like it could be improved more if you showed the impact that happens when he runs on the ground. Right now it looks like he's running really close to the ground or maybe even swimming because his spine is nearly constantly aligned. Just something to think about in the future~

Cool. Thanks for the input! That's actually a really good point.
...Could I bug you to find me an example, though..? I'm not sure I get what you're describing. I can kinda picture it in my head, but I don't think I have the right idea. x.x

Here's a good example of a canine run cycle: [link]

The main point is that both sets of feet are never on the ground at the same time, so if the back legs are on the ground, the upper body should be lifted up, and when the front legs are on the ground, the back end should be down. When you draw a line between the two sets of legs, it should be in more of a diagonal line than a straight line, as it appears to be here.

Aw yeah, /total sucker for Pokemon fanart

Love the glowing green eyes and the fact that the head stays relatively in the same general position. Kind of gives the run that... chase feeling, y'know? Like the sights are set on something. Only thing I can say though, is that the animation is a little rigid. But to be fair, that's probably because it's just three frames long. Obviously it's not gonna be perfectly smooth if you're doing a full range of motion for running with just three frames, so it is good that it came out as well as it did despite the frame limitation.

lol Yeah, the more I look at it, the more the choppy-ness bothers me.
The 'sights set on something' idea was exactly my motive, though!! Glad you put it in such similar words. :XD:

Can only do so much with three frames, so I guess it can't be helped. Obviously more frames would make it smoother, but being able to do a full cycle with as few frames as possible isn't a bad thing, no?

And hah, definitely a good thing if you were able to convey to me exactly what you had in mind just by looking at this. :la:

Coolio. Yet another epic pokemon fanart in your collection!

Looks great so far, the likeness and composition is well executed. However, I feel the animation could be more smooth if you added some frames. The way it is currently with 3 frames on a loop, that does give it the running feel. I am just saying maybe 1 or 2 more frames would help improve its fluidity.

Regardless it is awesome and will be :+fav:

Yeah, I agree with the 'needs moar framez'.
Probably done with it, though. It was just supposed to be a "warm up doodle" assigned by Jordan to help me get the ball rolling on commissions. ...

So much for that! ;P

try adding in between frames to make it smoother, 1 in between frame should suffice. Haha should we expect more flash from the great Sabtastic?
