Pokemon Team - Step By Step by Sabtastic Pokemon Team - Step By Step by Sabtastic
And here it is! The long anticipated drawing tutorial by Sabtastic. B:

Please note, it's not all that helpful to complete Photoshop newbies. I made this with the assumption that you already have a basic understanding of what photoshop is, and what layers can do, as well as what the 'multiply' layer function does.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Here's the actual deviation:

And some other Pokemon related works from me!

What brush settings are you using when you shade your characters?

ok, my bro and i stared at this for hours as well as the deviation before i finally put them side-by-side in photoshop. again, we stared at it FOREVER. and still i cannot find all the hidden pokemon. i cannot find Wormadam, Drifblim, Poliwag, Ho-oh, Golduck, Chatot, Shaymin, Celebi, Hoothoot, or Canivine. We did, however, find Kecleon, Altaria, Metapod, Oddish, Caterpie, Mew, Zubat, Foongus, Pidove, and a half-oval shadowy blotch we think is Diglett. could u, maybe, post another version of this with the hidden pokemon circled for us people obsessed with finding them?

lol long comment >.< thx!

Oh...! Sorry! This isn't actually the version with all of the hidden pokemon!
They're over in the final version, here: [link]

When you get to that image, I strongly reccommend you download the full sized resolution. MUCH easier to find them that way. c:

The tutorial? Not long.
The picture itself probably took at least 30 hours on and off.

Oh, they work wonders. It's weird getting used to them, but once you get one, there's no going back. lol You'll NEED one forever.

They're pretty affordable these days..! The bamboo fun ones are probably the best value, but you can buy reasonably priced used ones online.

I might be getting one for Christmas, should I also try to get Photoshop CS3 or are there ones more recommended?

These days, Photoshop CS3 is old news. There are newer versions as new as CS5 out now! c:

But yeah, I'd reccommend Photoshop CS3 and Flash CS3 (Flash is awesome if you're interested in animating cartoons or making games)

By the way, what size/kind of Wacom pen tablet would be best to start off with?

I'd really recommend starting out with a small sized one. It's perfect for starting out (I started out with a little 6x8 Wacom CTE-440 for about 115 dollars), and it's not as big of an investment as, let's say, a 900 dollar Cintiq tablet might be.

Keep in mind it's really easy to upgrade to bigger sizes later. Not so easy downsizing! :XD:

Or, folders...? Like, Pickachu is in yellow, Absol is in gray, Flygon is in green... All of those similar layers are color-coded. I was just wondering how you did that?

Ohhh...! Ok. Sorry.

On Photoshop CS3, you just right-click your layer, then hit Layer Properties. A little pop-up should appear that will allow you to rename and colour that particular layer. C:

lol - oh. It wasn't actually all black and white. I greyscaled it because I forgot to screencap that step. :I

The actual colour I used for shading was a muted blue in most places.
