So my sister and I are going to be sharing an Artist Alley table at EdmontonExpo on Oct 21-22...! ...In two more weeks! We're brainstorming some fan art ideas at the moment, as well as stocking up on our inventory, but we want
your insights and
expertise as fellow comic-con-goers!! From a business perspective, what do YOU, as a fellow artist and/or art-lover think would be popular at your local comic expo? What kind of fan art or original artwork do you normally want to buy?
From what I observed at Animethon (my first expo), Pokemon and Zelda-related stuff is HUGE. People go nuts for that stuff. Little trinkets and buttons sold like hot cakes, but more expensive 'unique' merchandise did not. Amongst other popular merchandise that we didn't have were Adventure Time, Avengers, Sailor Moon, and Homestuck (plus a bunch of others I can't think of right now). People also seemed to go crazy for things that were availablie in a SERIES, or collections. If there were two different versions of something, they'd usually buy them both.
So with that said, do you have any ideas you'd like to share?
I'd love to hear some of your input!!

Hope this helped!
I can definitely agree with your picks -- a lot of that was selling at other booths in Animethon-- so hopefully EdExpo is similar!!
Cheers! Thanks so much!
Pokemon
Street Fighter
Legend of Zelda
Marvel Characters (Phoenix, Black Cat pinups?)
and anything MLP related bitches love.
I go to almost every con there is in Ontario. This is generally what will be the best sellers.
People love prints, buttons and keychains mostly.
Plushies seem to do great if you have enough time to put into making them
The characters are amazing!!
Thanks, Ismael!
Its a new show (albeit run by the Calgary guys) so hard to tell what sells better, prints or original art. Best to take a bit of everything with ya.
