Description

This is a little out of the ordinary for me, but I was required to shoot some artistic photography for a class, so I figured I'd share!

The overall theme in the series was STRESS but more specifically ART-RELATED DEADLINE STRESS. This is something that I worry about all the goddamn time, and I feel horrible when I can't make deadlines or when I owe artwork to people for an extended amount of time.

I chose about 5 of these pictures for my series, but THIS one in particular seemed like the most successful.

I got the warped effect by taking a xerox print-out of my photo and dragging it across a scanner.

Just thought I'd share! <3
Happy Halloween!

I think the idea of stress was successfully brought to the surface in this image. The distortion of the skull indicates confusion, or fatigue and warping of the brain, a sort of push and pull on the skulls structure.

The skeletal hand reaching up and sort of caressing the face is also indicative of a pose of stress.

Also the edge of the image not being completely crisp and square at the one side would denote carelessness or being rushed. As a former art student, it was a symptom that many of my pieces had shown when I was stressed by the pressures of professors, time restraints and my self.

The use of the skull is a very classic motif in art and it can be hard to avoid those relationships that the skull symbolizes in classic art, and many may find it hard to see past the idea that the skull has been used so extensively that it bears little originality. It is also a pretty easy place to go being that the skull is so loaded with symbolism and just plainly looks awesome.

I however have no problem with it, but it may be a thing to look out for and be aware of, especially in Art school, ESPECIALLY in the fine art department. It was a pretty big deal at mine <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/let…" width="15" height="15" alt=":P" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="395" title=":P (Lick)"/>
